Why is it so important to KNOW what you're building or working on BEFORE you begin?

Are you too impatient or maybe too lazy to figure out what you are building before you give the precious resource of your time and energy to it?

Most of us have a high tolerance for being un-clear or foggy about what we  are working on or what we are building. We are often unclear even about areas that are really important to us. In this article you will discover why having a high degree of  'Clarity' is so critically important to our business success and growth.

Below each section is a QUESTION for you to answer.

1). What is Clarity all about?

When we wake each morning and it’s time to go to work we naturally focus on what’s urgent for today or what’s left over from yesterday. We assume that’s the best use of our time and energy. However, it might not be. What you achieve this week is the building block for what you will achieve this month, which feeds into the quarter, and that feeds into the end of they year. So this week has a direct relationship to your year end-results and we are mostly unaware of that fact.

True Clarity It has many levels. It requires understanding with a high degree of precision what  your goals are and your larger intentions in life. Sometimes when you wake in the morning you have Clarity but most of the time you don’t. To get it requires focus and concentration. Most of us are impatient or have sloppy work habits and just dive into today's list.

Question for you:  Do you have a reliable practice to get Clarity each day before you begin work?

2). Un-Clarity, aka busyness, drifting in a fog.  Yes, We Go There All The Time.

Un-clarity, busyness and fogginess on their own are not a problem. They are only a problem when you want to be productive and achieve great things. Many of us can easily tolerate a high degree of un-clarity. We can hang out in a fog for quite a while. We can go through a day or a week and not even know why we are doing what we are doing.

Sometimes the un-clarity extends to important areas in our business and life where we have disengaged or withdrawn. Figuratively speaking we put a bag over our heads. We refuse to face what’s happening. Occasionally we completely exit the playing field.

Question for you: Do you have areas that are important to you where you have disengaged and withdrawn?

3). What is your relationship with Clarity?

Are you annoyed that you don't always have it. Are you afraid of what you will find if you get clear? Do you use un-clarity as an excuse not to do something you don’t want to do?

Consider for a moment that your relationship with clarity was formed in your early school years. Way back in those times you were given homework to do. You did it or you didn’t. If you didn’t and were challenged about it you probably said something like you didn’t understand how to do it, which at the time was a lie but it worked. You got off the hook for not doing it. Today, as an adult, that relationship that was formed in your youth could still be playing itself out.

What’s at stake here could be the key to your success. It's easy to miss the cost of being un-clear.  You can walk around in a fog, or be upset and you may never have to face that think you don't want to do. The only problem is the activity you are unclear about and avoiding could be a critical link to the success of what your building and you don’t know it.

Being “clear” usually requires focusing and thinking. Occasionally, you will wake up in the morning experiencing vivid clarity, but more often it requires sorting through your thinking and feelings to find it. 




The next section explains why it’s necessary for your success to generate your own clarity on a continuing basis.

 4). Why is Clarity so important?  

At the beginning of the day you start your day and around 11pm each night it’s over. You will have a certain amount of energy and fire for the day and then it’s gone. You have a certain amount of it. If you have no clear plan that energy and fire will be used on other things. The results you’ll have will be in areas outside of your priorities, they will be other people’s priorities or the might not be a clear result at all.
